Kaguya-Sama: Love is War in 100 words


Kaguya-Sama: Love is War excels at creating comedic situations out of romantic tension. Shinomiya Kaguya and Shirogane Miyuki compete to make the other confess, desiring their loved one's affection while trying to protect their personal pride. Side characters like Chika and Ishigami bring their own flavor of absurdity to the story, and Kaguya and Miyuki have developed connections with their friends that develop throughout the series, which makes each character feels well-rounded and compelling. The author also includes real-world cultural information to make the world feel unique and the comedy fresh, which gives it more flavor compared to other comedies.

Ichi the Killer explores the demented mind of Ichi, a highly skilled karateka with powerful legs, as he kills according to the orders of Jiji, his contractor. Ichi starts out as a crybaby who looks weak and pathetic, but his deeper personality and mentality is unraveled as the story progresses. Jiji is the mastermind, developing schemes to help him and Ichi come out on top in a battle against a Yakuza group. Ichi's mentality is the main focus of the series, exploring the contradiction of a hitman with incredible fighting prowess who cries all the time while fighting. Team Medical Dragon creates a strong dramatic tension through depicting the politics of a Japanese medical hospital and how each doctor tackles the issues they face using their own medical philosophy. The conflict isn't simply about good doctors defeating bad doctors, but how best to bring reform to a corrupt system.
