Thoughts on SSS-Class Suicide Hunter

Gongja is someone who considers the "correct" way of climbing the tower over simply being powerful. Kim Gongja is extremely envious of the number one hero in his world, the Flame Hero. However, he is soon disillusioned when he gets murdered by that very same hero. Luckily, Gongja gains a skill from the hero which allows him to rewind time after he dies, which gives him the chance to take proper revenge. Gongja rewinds time by killing himself thousands of times, going to the day the Flame Hero gained his powers to eliminate him for good.

The main distinction between Gongja and other Tower Manhwa is his mentality. Gongja deeply considers the morality of his actions and seeks ways to bring peace to the tower, understanding the nature of the Tower more than anyone else and saving people along the way.

The author is also great at switching between genres, from a dungeon storyline to a Murim plot to a romance story, all of which are written amazingly. The tower is put to full use as each of the later floors serve as methods to tell different stories and put Gongja in different situations. 


Each chapter of SSS-Class Suicide Hunter feels well thought out and deliberately crafted to grab the viewer. It's one of the most interesting stories I've ever seen, and each arc is able to tackle different themes and genres while still feeling fresh each time.

I consider this series excellent.

Ichi the Killer in 200 words

Ichi the Killer explores the demented mind of Ichi, a highly skilled karateka with powerful legs, as he kills according to the orders of Jiji, his contractor. Ichi starts out as a crybaby who looks weak and pathetic, but his deeper personality and mentality is unraveled as the story progresses. Jiji is the mastermind, developing schemes to help him and Ichi come out on top in a battle against a Yakuza group. Ichi's mentality is the main focus of the series, exploring the contradiction of a hitman with incredible fighting prowess who cries all the time while fighting. Most people see Ichi as a coward and weakling, fooled by his lack of confidence and meekness, yet the split between his internal motivations and outward appearance is one of the most critical themes of the story. Thoughts on Team Medical Dragon

Team Medical Dragon creates a strong dramatic tension through depicting the politics of a Japanese medical hospital and how each doctor tackles the issues they face using their own medical philosophy. The conflict isn't simply about good doctors defeating bad doctors, but how best to bring reform to a corrupt system. The main character, Asada Ryuuto, is a former doctor who sees no value in the current medical system. He is an accomplished surgeon who has worked in NGOs, and the team he led there was distinguished and incredibly skilled, earning the name "Team Medical Dragon". However, Asada is now a washed-up doctor who refuses to work again, even at the pleading of his friend Miki, who is an accomplished nurse herself.
